Job Summary:
Gathers charge information, codes and enters charges into the system to complete billing process.
Qualifications:
Requires one year related experience. Minimum Education required is high school diploma or equivalent. Requires accuracy and ability to coordinate and prioritize workday efficiently. Computer skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Windows Suite (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Power Point, Outlook). Experience with Point system preferred. Proficiency with office machines such as facsimile/copy/printer/scanner .Must possess excellent typing skills. Strong communication skills required. Must be detail oriented. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagram, or scheduling format.
Essential Job Functions and Requirements:
Determines accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures and services performed by physicians and recognized, licensed non-physician providers in physician-based settings (These services may include evaluation and management services as well as reviewing operative notes)
Keeps current with medical compliance and reimbursement policies, such as medical necessity issues and correct coding issues.
Performs various auditing duties related to physician practice management and coding to maintain compliance with pay or reimbursement policies and governmental regulations as well as Medicare/CMS guidelines.
Monitors progress resulting from periodic internal audits.
Provides training in coding and compliance issues to physicians, non-physician providers on a ongoing basis.
Provides physicians and staff with up to date coding information from reliable, accurate sources.
Provides orientation training to include medical practice guidelines for new physicians and non-providers to the practice.
Implements of new coding guidelines in a timely manner within the practice.
Updates encounter forms/superbills on an annual basis with respect to diagnostic, procedural and supply. code changes.
Updates other patient information forms as necessary from time to time.
